Sepon SDR-signaalissa näkyi iso piikki ohjelman keskellä
Se näkyi Rocky ohjelmassa myös vaikka Softrock ei ollut päällä
Seppo epäili ohjelmavirhettä.
Keskusteluryhmissä on näkynyt samanlainen oire:
My question is as follows. When I set the frequency of interest using
Rocky I see a rather large signal at that frequency on the Rocky
display. Is this a "feature" as we used to say in the wonderful world
of software or have I another fault to iron out?
That spike at the center frequency is caused by the sound card and/or
ground loops. With a Delta 44 sound card I was able to make the center
spike completely disappear on 40m once I got rid of a couple of ground
loops in the RXTX v6.2. I am not familiar with the version 9 , so
somebody else will have to fill you in on the ground loop problems with
that. If you are using a cheap sound card you gets what you pays for.
If you are using a cheap Softrock you gets what you pays for :-)
As Bill says the spike is normal on an ordinary card. It is actually at the
0Hz position at the centre of the Softrock's range. Ignore it, one day you
may feel that you want a better card. A mound of signals around this spike
indicates an earth (ground) loop.
You should not notice a lack of sensitivity on 40m with a Softrock, (unless
it really is a bad soundcard!)
No-one to my knowlege has asked for connectors. Many have obtained and
fitted them. I have used connectors from very old VCRs.
